'RJD will contest in Bengal and Assam elections'

Shyam Rajak, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD)'s national general secretary, in-charge of West Bengal and Assam on Wednesday said the party has only one goal, that is to defeat the Bharatiya Janata Party for which whatever steps are necessary will be taken.

New Delhi: Shyam Rajak, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD)'s national general secretary, in-charge of West Bengal and Assam on Wednesday said that assembly elections will be held in both states this year and RJD will contest assembly elections in both states with full force.

"I have visited both states and RJD is getting good response from the public. Many people are willing to contest from our party at the same time we are in talks with Chief Minister and TMC chief Mamta Banerjee in Bengal. If everything goes well, we will have an alliance," said Rajak.

He added that RJD also had a conversation with AIUDF chief Badruddin Ajmal in Assam in relations with the alliance.

"We will also combine with other small parties in Assam. We have only one goal, that is to defeat the Bharatiya Janata Party for which whatever steps are necessary will be taken," RJD minister said.

Recently, the RJD met for the assembly elections to be held in both states at the residence of RJD MP Manoj Jha in Delhi where Manoj Jha, National Principal General Secretary Abdul Bari Siddiqui, Shyam Rajak and Tejashwi Yadav were in attendance.

They discussed the strategy for the upcoming polls.
