New Delhi: As West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee refused to participate in Niti Aayog Council meeting, which is going to be held on 15th of June under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, experts have opined that through this decision it has proven, political benefits are overpowering progress of the nation.
While speaking to ETV Bharat, senior journalist and policy analysis expert, Manohar Manoj said, "In the first term, Narendra Modi gave a call for centre-state partnership, called as cooperative federalism. But the political animosity is quite obvious because of the two rival political parties in power. This is affecting the progress of the state."
"NITI Aayog has no political meaning. It is just an advisory body consisting of experts from different sectors, including health, education, agriculture and security. So, if Mamta Banerjee has boycotted this meeting, it was well expected because all politicians firstly prioritize about their political gains," he added.
Earlier too, Mamta Banerjee had skipped meetings of the government think tank, expressing her displeasure over the dissolution of Planning Commission and creation on a new structure. In the Aspirational District Programme, all the 3 aspirational districts of West Bengal did not participate in the initiative, which was being launched for the developments of these districts in the areas of health, education, agriculture, financial inclusion and basic infrastructure.
