New Delhi: Decrying corruption, nepotism and appeasement as the three evils that have harmed the country immensely, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said it is a collective responsibility to promote "suchita (probity), pardarshita (transparency), nishpakshta (objectivity)" to make India developed.
Modi said corruption is the root cause for all the problems here. It has deep-rooted in all the systems of the country. Fight against corruption in every unit, in every sector is Modi's commitment in this life, the prime minister said.
"It is Modi's life-long commitment to keep fighting against corruption...My government weeded out 10 crore fake beneficiaries of welfare schemes, and seizure of ill-gotten assets rose by 20 times," he said.
Nepotism too has its adverse effects on the country. The way nepotism has been held on tight here has led to erosion of rights of many people.
Appeasement is another issue which needs to be conqured, according to Modi. Corruption, nepotism, and appeasement, flourished while suppressing the aspirations of the people. It has exploited whatever little power some people of our country have.
He also said that the politics of appeasement has inflicted the most harm on social justice. Modi, addressing his 10th independence day speech, said that democracy has been affected by the ills of nepotism and alleged that dynastic parties work with the mantra of "party of the family, by the family and for the family".
Addressing the 77th Independence Day celebrations from the ramparts of Red Fort, Modi said that corruption has badly affected India's capabilities and the country has to resolve to not tolerate it in any form.
Whoever we are, be it a poor, be it a Dalit, be it a backward, be it a Pasmanda, be it our tribal brothers and sisters, be it our mothers or sisters, we all will have have got rid of these three evils for their rights.
We need to create an atmosphere of hatred against corruption, PM Modi said.
