PM at the helm of India's fight against COVID-19, opposition shouldn't question: JDU

JDU on Wednesday praised PM Modi's measures taken to combat COVID-19 crisis and said that the opposition parties shouldn't question any move.

New Delhi: Chief General Secretary and National Spokesperson of the Janata Dal (United), K.C. Tyagi on Wednesday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is doing his best to combat the COVID-19 crisis in the country and opposition parties shouldn't pose any question.

He further added that Modi is continuing his interactions with various stakeholders in India’s fight against COVID-19. Prime Minister interacts with over 200 people on a daily basis which includes phone calls to various State Governors, Chief Ministers, and Health Ministers to get a first-hand feedback on India’s fight against the COVID-19 menace.

"PM also had talks with SAARC leaders and Chief Ministers of all the states in order to come up with various solution to win this battle against coronavirus. I absolutely don't agree to allegations made by opposition parties that PM doesn't listen, I think he has been listening to anyone and everyone on this coronavirus issue," K.C. Tyagi added.

National Spokesperson of JDU elaborated that opposition parties shouldn't indulge in petty politics, instead it should be united to help people prosper.

"The lockdown which has been imposed is for our own safety and for the safety of others. In view of dire, prevailing situation it might be extended and I would then urge all the parties to come together to support a cause and not wage a political war against government's decision," K.C. Tyagi said.

Meanwhile, the total number of positive COVID-19 cases surpassed the 5000-mark and as many as 149 people have been reported dead from the disease. A total of 5194 cases have been reported so far, of which 401 people have recovered.
