New Delhi: Rajya Sabha on Monday passed the Jammu and Kashmir Reservation (Amendment) Bill, 2023, and Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill, 2023 the bills through a voice vote after the opposition walked out of the Upper house. The bills were passed in the Lok Sabha on December 6.
"I have already promised statehood of Jammu and Kashmir will be restored at the appropriate time. Article 370 in J-K gave rise to separatism which in turn promoted terrorism. The Supreme Court verdict on J-K is a big defeat of opposition parties", Amit Shah said in Rajya Sabha.
Amit Shah said that the Jammu and Kashmir Constitution does not hold any validity after the Supreme Court's verdict on Article 370 abrogation. Those who say Article 370 is 'permanent' are insulting the Constitution and Constituent Assembly, HM Amit Shah said in Rajya Sabha.
The winter session of Parliament began on December 4 and will culminate on December 22.
