New Delhi: The Delhi government has started making arrangements to provide safer lodging and dining facility to the violence-affected people in Northeast Delhi who have lost their residences in the demonstrations against newly amended Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and National Register of Citizens (NRC).
The state government has converted night shelters into shelter homes with the capacity to facilitate around 50 people near gate number three of the GTB Hospital.
Taking stock of the situation on the ground, ETV Bharat reached the shelter home near gate number three of the GTB Hospital where patients and victims hit by Northeast Delhi violence will be provided accommodation.
The shelter home provides the arrangement of bedding and enough space for the comfortable stay for nearly 50 people.
The state government is putting all possible efforts to provide relief to the people amid escalating tension across northeast Delhi following the protests against CAA and NRC resulting in communal riots.
Earlier, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi government had announced that people, whose houses were burnt down in Northeast Delhi violence, will be given on spot ex-gratia of Rs 25,000 cash each from Saturday afternoon.
"The balance amount will be assessed within 2 to 3 days by the Public Works Department (PWD)," an official stated on Friday.
