Nine-year-old kidnapped from Delhi, murdered

The accused, Johnny along with his companions on 23 February kidnapped the girl who lived in the neighbourhood and was playing with children outside her house with an intention to demand a ransom. But due to the fear of being caught, he attacked the child with an iron rod in Modinagar, killing the child.The accused then dumped the body in a field.

New Delhi: A nine-year-old girl kidnapped from the Kalyanpuri area for ransom was killed by the abductors. Her body was recovered four days later on Friday from Muradnagar in Uttar Pradesh.

The police have arrested four people - the victim's neighbour and his three friends in the case.

DCP Deepak Yadav said that the accused have been identified as Jani alias Shiva, Naresh, Kailash and Varun. Naresh is the son of the main accused Johnny's aunt.

Following the recovery of the body, the family and the local people staged demonstrations on National Highway 24 and Kalyanpuri police station jamming the road for hours. They also vandalised the police car parked in Kalyanpuri police station.

The victim's family lives in a slum colony in Kalyanpuri and therefore, the police don't believe the statement that the girl was been kidnapped and murdered for a ransom.

The investigation is on in the case.
