New Delhi: A three-year-old girl drowned in Kondli canal near New Ashok Nagar area of East Delhi on Sunday.
The deceased has been identified as Sonali daughter of Ganesh and Rinki couple.
After receiving information about the incident, the rescue team reached the spot and recovered the body at 3 o'clock in the afternoon.
"The incident took place while the family, who was on their to hospital in a car stopped at Kondli canal as Sonali's brother was feeling unwell. Rinki took him near the canal so that he could vomit and feel better. Sonali followed the duo hastily. She lost control in the process and drowned in front of her mother,"police said.
"Her mother immediately tried to rescue her but the girl drowned. The body was recovered and sent to Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital for post mortem,"police added.
