New Delhi: The opposition parties have been consistently pulling up the Kejriwal government for making Metro rides free for women in the state capital.
Defending his government’s move, AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh said that his government’s plan to make Metro rides free for women would reduce pollution and also ease traffic as more people would use the public transport.
Singh attacked the media houses and opposition parties for questioning the scheme. He has released a video and briefed about the benefits of the plan.

Singh further added that the Delhi Metro has a capacity of 15 lakh people and after the implementation of the Free Ride Scheme, people would travel in larger number in the metro.
Singh added “As Delhi suffers a lot from air pollution, this measure of the government will help in putting a lot of vehicles off the road. Many questions are being raised…that this decision will hit the DMRC’s revenue, but that is not just true. When the government is reimbursing the entire subsidy amount, then what is the reason for this opposition? We all respect the ‘Metro Man’, but it seems he is under pressure.”
Sanjay Singh appealed to people to ignore the complaints and questions of opposition parties and all other people and said that they support the plan. He said that his plan is not inspired by politics.
The scheme will not only ensure the safety of women but is also beneficial for the environment.
AAP MP Sanjay Singh said“The number of vehicles on the road will decrease and this will help curb pollution. When our mothers and sisters start travelling in the metro, the traffic on the roads will also decrease.”
