Fire breaks out at building near Safdarjung airport

A fire broke out at the IT building of Safdarjung Airport on Monday. No injuries have been reported yet and all occupants have been rescued safely

New Delhi: A fire broke out at the IT building of Safdarjung Airport here on Monday, Delhi Fire Service officials said. No injuries have been reported yet and all occupants have been rescued safely, they said.

According to the fire department, a call about blaze was received at around 3.24 pm and six fire tenders were pressed into service. The fire-fighting operation is underway. The cause of blaze is not yet known, they said.

Earlier on Saturday, a major fire broke out at a clothing showroom in Central Market of Lajpat Nagar area on Saturday morning. The Delhi Fire Department has pressed as many as 70 firefighters into service.

Officials told media outlets that they received a call from I-block in Central Market around 10.20 am following which they sent 30 fire fighters initially. Even as they swung into action, they sought more personnel as the impact was high. As a result, another 40 firefighters were rushed to the spot. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, sources said.
