Lockdown helpline number closed in Delhi

Delhi Police's helpline phone number, which was started to sort out problems of people in the city during the coronavirus-induced lockdown, has been closed down as the restrictions have been lifted and the life limping back to normalcy even as the capital city deals with the pandemic, which has disrupted the whole world.

New Delhi: With coronavirus-induced lockdown lifted almost fully in the national capital, the Delhi Police's 24x7 helpline number - 011-23469526 - made operational in April last to help citizens on issues concerning the restrictions has been closed now, official sources said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced a national lockdown to deal with the highly contagious disease from March 24, 2020, following which the Delhi
Police launched the helpline number to assist people in need.
Police received all sorts of calls related to arranging food, money and movement passes during the lockdown period and citizens got the required help and guidance from the helpline number.

The number proved very useful as thousands of people got their issues resolved by talking to the police personnel.
