New Delhi: The Congress on Saturday said that the election results of Karnataka stopped BJP from making inroads to south India. Congress MP in the Rajya Sabha Imran Pratapgarhi while speaking to ETV Bharat, said, "The election result showed that people of south India have rejected BJP. Now, the saffron party will face a similar fate in north India."
The Congress MP further said, "We all are happy. Our Congress workers are happy. What we promised in our party's election manifesto and talked about love and bonding in society helped us to become victorious." Speaking about the Karnataka assembly poll was the litmus test for the BJP for making inroads into south India. "Now, all hopes of the BJP were dashed. Apart from this, people are angry over BJP's hate politics," he added. Talking about JD (S), Congress leader Imran said that it was for JD (S) to decide whether they wanted to sit in the opposition. But right now, we are marching towards a landslide victory in the Karnataka polls.
Giving reply to a query about whether Karnataka election results will impact the BJP's performance in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in 2024, he said that BJP formed the government or grabbed power in Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra "undemocratically". So, Karnataka assembly poll was a lesson for the saffron party. He expressed confidence that the results of the Karnataka election will have an impact on the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. "The election results in Karnataka will definitely give a major boost to all the opposition parties," said Pratapgarhi.
