BJP inducts and later expels person who fired at CAA protesters

Kapil Gurjar, the shooter who was arrested by the Delhi Police for firing at protestors at Shaheen Bagh in February was inducted into the BJP and shown the door later today. Gurjar joined the party at the District Office of Ghaziabad in the presence of District President of BJP Ghaziabad, Sanjeev Sharma. However, his membership was revoked when the issue was raised in social media.

New Delhi: Kapil Gurjar, who grabbed headlines after firing at the CAA protestors at Shaheen Bagh in Delhi, joined the BJP only to be shown the door later in the evening. Gurjar joined the BJP on Wednesday at the District Office of Ghaziabad in the presence of District President of BJP Ghaziabad, Sanjeev Sharma.

After joining the party, Kapil Gurjar said that the BJP is working to strengthen Hindutva and in such a situation he is with the BJP.

"We are with the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Bharatiya Janata Party is strengthening Hindutva and wants to take it forward. Most of the work done by the BJP is for Hindus. I want to work for Hindutva. My desire from the beginning is that I do something big for Hindutva and do something for my country. That's why I joined the Bharatiya Janata Party today," Gurjar said at the event.

District President Sanjeev Sharma said that Kapil Gurjar along with friends has joined the Bharatiya Janata Party today, impressed by the policies of the BJP and the work of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. However, later in the day when asked about why he was expelled, Sanjeev Sharma said, "Kapil Gurjar was part of a group of BSP workers who joined BJP today. We had no knowledge about his association with Shaheen Bagh issue."

On February 1, Gurjar fired two rounds in the air at Shaheen Bagh, where an anti-CAA protest is underway police said.

After being overpowered by police personnel, Baisala chanted "Jai Shri Ram" and said, "Hamare desh me aur kisi ki nahi chalegi, sirf Hinduon ki chalegi (only Hindus shall have a say in our country, no one else)," as he was taken into custody by the Delhi Police. He was later granted bail by a Delhi court.
