Jalshakti minister to visit Assam tomorrow to take stock of flood situation

Union Minister Gajendra Shekhawat will visit Assam on Tuesday and will speak to state Chief Minister over the present perennial flood problem in the state. The Union government is providing funds for relief and rescue operation and is closely monitoring the situation.

New Delhi: Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat will visit Assam on Tuesday to take stock of the present flood situation of the state.

Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) MP Biren Baisya called on Sekhawat in the Parliament House and raised the issue of perennial flood problem of Assam.

"The Union Minister will be visiting Assam tomorrow. He had a talk with Assam Chief Minister over the present situation," said Baisya while talking to ETV Bharat.

The AGP MP raised the issue in the Rajya Sabha during zero hours. "I have tried to attract the attention of the central government as well as the attention of all Indians over the serious flood situation in Assam," said Baisya.

Baisya said that both the Assam government and the Government at the Centre are giving importance to the flood problem of the state.

"Apart from providing funds for relief and rescue operation, the government is closely monitoring the situation," added Baisya.
