New Delhi: A safety drive by the Northern Railways to prevent fire accidents in trains was taken up in New Delhi on Monday.
Indian Railways launched a 15-days campaign to improve the safety of the passengers.
According to regulations, all the railway employees are instructed to always be cautious.
The decision was taken after the reports several fire accidents in train surfaced.
Specifications for fire retardant furnishing materials have been periodically reviewed to incorporate fire retardant parameters in line with UIC and other international norms.
Detailed instructions were issued to zonal railways for the observance of electrical wirings, flammable goods and LPG connections in the pantry cars.
After the completion of the campaign, a detailed report will be given to all the zones and special notings will be done.
