New Delhi is all set to acquire 30 weaponised Sea Guardian drones from the US. Speaking to ETV Bharat, Defence and strategic expert Maj General P K Sehgal (Retd) said that the drones are the finest system of its variety that is available in the world today.

New Delhi: After India plans to buy 30 weaponised sea guardian drones from the United States of America (USA), military expert PK Sehgal feels that these drones are battle-tested and are one of the finest technologies.

Speaking to ETV Bharat, Defence and strategic expert Major General PK Sehgal (Retd) stated that the drones are the finest system of its variety that is available in the world today. It has been tried out in various wars in Afghanistan, Somalia etc and found to be very effective.

The drones will be used by all the three branches of the Indian Armed Forces with 10 drones each for the Army, Navy, and the IAF to seek and destroy targets on land and sea. Out of 30 drones which are to be acquired by the USA, 10 will be available for Army, 10 for Navy and remaining 10 for Air Force.

According to Defence and strategic expert " It is a very important surveillance and reconnaissance platform, anything that it can survey or detect it has the capacity of destroying it. As far as Navy is concerned It will increase the Navy' capacity by an order of magnitude to keep a watch on the Indo - Pacific, particularly the state of Malacca which is used extensively by Chinese Navy to surface in the Indian ocean."
