New Delhi: Raising its concern over the forceful conversion of two Hindu girls in Pakistan, Minister of State External Affairs V Muraleedharan asked Pak government to fulfil its constitutional obligations to protect minorities in the country.
The minister was responding after a question raised by Shiv Sena MP Rajkumar Dhoot in Rajya Sabha regarding the abduction of two minor Hindu minor girls and their forceful conversion into Islam.
The minister maintained his speech and said, "we had shared grave concerns on these deplorable incidents of abduction and forced conversions with Pakistan side.
The Indian government has also asked PM Imran Khan to take remedial action against the accused on an urgent basis.
Also, we advised them to fulfil its constitutional obligations in order to protect and promote the safety, security and welfare of the citizens especially those from the minority communities."
According to the Human Rights Commission report of Pakistan 1000 cases of forced conversion of Hindu and Christian girls were recorded from Sindh province only.
Imran Khan had challenged Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March this year and said, "Pakistan's treatment with its minorities will be a classic example for the Modi government on how to treat minorities."
However, Anusha's abduction, forced conversation and marriage slammed Khan's claims of religious harmony and state of minorities in Pakistan.
