New Delhi: The peace and harmony committee of Delhi Legislative assembly, which was formed in the wake of northeast Delhi violence, has accused some Facebook posts by calling some witnesses on Monday and determined the veracity of the allegations.
According to the committee, the complainants have made blistering allegations of bias and deliberate inaction on the part of Facebook in Delhi riots.
The committee alleged in the complaints that Facebook has been turning a blind eye to mass manufacturing and propagation of hateful communal contents which have the potential to erupt violence and riot-like situations.
The committee headed by Raghav Chadha also called three journalists to submit evidence to the committee related to the Delhi riots and made the decision on the basis of the evidence.
Chadha said, "Racial riots also took place in the US in May and Facebook was very cautious during that time. But when there were riots in Delhi in February, Facebook was quite wrong and it worked as a negative catalyst. Some evidence shows there was a conspiracy to organize riots in Delhi."
"On the basis of evidence, we are accusing Facebook of its alleged involvement in the case. The manner in which Facebook has behaved it invites the ingredients of Section. 153A, 295A, 505 of the IPC. In this case, the committee has now summoned Facebook officials to present their case," he added.
