New Delhi: Rumour mills were agog that former Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik was detained at the RK Puram police station, New Delhi when he went there for questioning. On the other hand, police said the former Governor of the J&K was not detained. He came to the police station on his own.
"We have not detained ex-Governor Satya Pal Malik. He has come on his own, along with his supporters, to RK Puram police station and we have informed him that he can leave at his own will," said DCP South-West of Delhi police, Manoj C. On Saturday, a large number of farmers from different parts of New Delhi arrived at former Governor Satya Pal Malik's residence located in the Somvihar area of the national capital.
Malik's residence in Somvihar is situated in the RK Puram police station area. The former Governor of J&K was holding a meeting with farmers at his residence. When Malik went to the police station, the farmers also accompanied him. The farmers at the police station were raising anti-government slogans.

On Saturday, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) asked former Governor Satya Pal Malik to appear before the probe agency to give answers to certain queries related to an insurance scam that took place in 2022 in Jammu and Kashmir. Satya Pal Malik had levelled corruption allegations against the two insurance companies, which were awarded contracts flouting the norms.
