New Delhi: The customs department team stationed at the airport has arrested three foreigners carrying foreign currency illegally outside the country. From these, the currency of dozens of countries has been recovered. Their price has been more than 2.30 million. The custom team is inquiring about the gang.
Amandeep Singh, Additional Commissioner of Customs said, several customs department were working on the airport in connection with the smuggling of foreign currency. During this time one of his team was keeping an eye on the passengers coming to IGI T-3. At that time, he was informed that three people from the Air India flight would go to Bangkok. They will have large amounts of foreign currency in the bag, who illegally are taking it from India to Bangkok.
Shortly, the bag has been arrested by custom for the three passengers going to Bangkok. They are being questioned and inquired about the racket of foreign currency smuggling. In the search, 85,800 US dollars, 34,100 Australian dollars, 55,105 pounds, 62,710 euros, 36,050 New Zealand dollars, 17,000 dollars from Hong Kong, 1,40,000 dirhams and other currency from other countries has been recovered.
According to Amandeep Singh, additional commissioner of customs department, the custom has seized the foreign currency in accordance with Article 110 of the Customs Act. Its price is more than 25 million and 30 million.
