New Delhi: A demonstration organised by a section of students at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), against the scrapping of Jammu and Kashmir's special status, on Thursday, turned unruly as few of them reportedly manhandled a correspondent from ETV Bharat.
The protest, which was organised during Union Minister Jitendra Singh's lecture on 'Abrogation of Article 370: Peace, Stability and Development in Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh', witnessed intense sloganeering from the students, against the programme/seminar.
ETV Bharat reporter manhandled at JNU In this context, ETV Bharat's correspondent was deputed to cover the event and he further went around eliciting opinions from the student protesters. While some chose to answer the questions posed by the reporter, others refrained from dialogue and pointed out to the placards written with slogans. They gestured the media persons to read the placards, instead of asking them questions.Few moments later, mild tensions prevailed as some of the students manhandled ETV Bharat's correspondent and tried to push him away from the protest venue. Even before things could escalate, fellow media persons and students intervened to diffuse the situation.
