Speaking to ETV Bharat, Sandeep Kapoor, chairman standing committee, said that this kind of campaign is being carried out every day by the East Delhi Municipal Corporation. Roads are being cleaned by municipal machines and water is being sprayed along the roads.
On the question of non-cooperation by the Delhi government, Kapoor said, " This year so far no assistance has been provided by the Delhi government. They are just doing politics of advertising. Even the fund allotted to the horticulture department has not been given to them till now. The municipal corporation is reducing pollution in the areas of East Delhi by purchasing machines in collaboration with the central government."
It is to be noted that the Air QuaIity Index (AQI) in Delhi has gone worst after Diwali. On November 1, the Supreme Court-mandated Environment Pollution (Prevention and Control) Authority (EPCA) declared a public health emergency in Delhi due to rising air pollution levels.
