Injured driver narrates horrific violence in Delhi

25 people stopped me and beat me with rods and sticks. The rioters did not stop there. They set his vehicle on fire and vandalised public properties, says an injured driver.

Shahdara (Delhi): Even as the clashes triggered on Sunday by pro- and anti-CAA protesters at in northeast Delhi, the injured were brought to the Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) hospital in the national capital.

According to sources, the police are constantly trying to reign in the violence. Many who were injured during the clashes admitted to GTB hospital for further treatment.

An injured driver admitted to the Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) hospital in New Delhi, on Monday.

Speaking to ETV Bharat, an elderly driver who received injuries shared the horrific incident: "I was heading towards Bhopura border area in my SUV. Suddenly, near Bally Fatti Market in Ashok Nagar, as many as 25 people stopped me and beat me with rods and sticks."

"The rioters did not stop there. They set his vehicle on fire and vandalised public properties. He somehow reached the hospital after escaping from the rioters," a relative of the injured person said.

The death toll in northeast Delhi communal violence over the amended citizenship law has reached 20.
