Delhi sex workers learn new skills to earn livelihood

New Delhi: As many as 200 women, who lived and worked as sex workers in the red light area of GB Road of the capital city, have decided to earn their livelihood by making 'diyas', incense, candles and many other such items.

In this noble work, they are supported by the Delhi Police and the Delhi State Legal Services Authority.

Interacting with ETV Bharat, the women said that they are enjoying the work as it was something that would ensure normal life for them.

The women said they are being supported "really well" and that gives them the required confidence to continue with the new beginning.

Similar views were expressed by Gautum Manan, secretary, DLSA, who said all possible help will be provided to them to learn new skills and earn their living with pride.

The GB Road area has over 30 brothels wherein thousand of women work as sex workers.
