Vishwas Nagar (Delhi): The high-octane election in Delhi has been concluded. The vote percentage gradually started surging in the last hours. But for many of the voters, local issues continue to remain important.
To understand the mood on the ground, ETV Bharat team met voters of Vishwas Nagar constituency, an assembly seat which was won by BJP's Om Prakash Sharma in 2015.
A lot of these voters were happy with their local candidate. Some of them said that the BJP deserves to win as it has been out of power in the national capital for nearly two decades.
A large number of housewives and first-time voters also remained visible at the site.
Here are some opinions:
"For the last five years, we have seen the AAP government in Delhi. Personally I felt that Kejriwal led government has not done anything positive for the people. Only on the base of religion, this government made the only conflict between the different community. We are proud of having Om Prakash Ji in our constituency. He has done many developmental works here and we think that he will also win this year's election," a local said.
"Shaheenbagh issue is not a big matter for Delhi election. The major issue is the development which Kejriwal led government has not done. Om Prakash Ji has done fantastic work in Vishwas Nagar. Starting from transportation, education, the supply of electricity were done by the BJP government," a Vishwas Nagar resident said.
"We are voting for the nation. Before five years, the problems were also there with us and still, we are facing problems. It does not matter that the government has provided free water supply or not but people are also facing the same problems. I request everyone to vote for the nationwide development," a local said.
"The first and the foremost thing for me is education and then security. We are getting an adequate amount of water on a daily basis and education systems have been developed. My mother is also getting her pension in perfect time. Hospitals have been developed and facilities of the hospitals have also improved. These things confirm that Delhi is developing and that should be the major issue for the vote," a local lady said.
Notably, the counting for the 70 assembly seats will be done on February 11.
