Delhi Police receives intel alerts of drone strikes during I-Day

Intelligence and security agencies have issued an alert to Delhi Police before the Independence Day celebration. It has been reported that Pakistan-sponsored terrorists can carry out major terror strikes in the national capital including drone strikes.

New Delhi: Intelligence and security agencies have issued an alert to Delhi Police before the Independence Day celebration. It has been reported that Pakistan-sponsored terrorists can carry out major terror strikes in the national capital including drone strikes.

Reacting to the intelligence input, Delhi Police Commissioner Balaji Srivastava has already issued an order, banning all flying objects including all kinds of drones, paragliders and hot air balloons. The Delhi Police Commissioner has also instructed all the district DCPs to patrol their respective areas.

As per sources, the intel alert issued to Delhi Police also mentioned that sleeper cells could carry out terror strikes on August 5 as well. Article 370 was removed from Jammu and Kashmir on August 5/6 in the year 2019. The intelligence agencies have urged the Delhi Police to be alert till August 15.

Delhi Police is already preparing, keeping in mind the security challenges. Delhi Police Commissioner Balaji Srivastava on Sunday took stock of the security arrangements near the Red Fort and Parliament House and also monitored Delhi's borders. Delhi Police has also claimed that around 30,000 policemen are assigned to patrol the streets during the night.

Meanwhile, four anti-drone systems are also getting installed at the Red Fort. Delhi Police and other security agencies are being trained to deal with the security challenges posed by drones. Delhi Police are also conducting a verification drive in hostels and guesthouses along with a tenant verification in several areas. The Delhi Police has also urged the general public to report anything suspicious and all the SHOs have been instructed to maintain strict vigils.
