New Delhi: A blast took place near the Israel Embassy in New Delhi on Tuesday evening and all workers and diplomats are safe, said Israel's Deputy Chief of Mission to India Ohad Nakash Kaynar. A spokesperson of the Israel Embassy confirmed that at around 5 pm there was a blast near the embassy. The Delhi police and the security team are monitoring the situation.
Speaking to ETV Bharat, Kaynar said, "Around 5 pm on Tuesday evening, an explosion took place near the embassy. All our workers and diplomats are safe and our security team is working in cooperation with the Delhi police. They will investigate the matter further". The blast took place amid the ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict. Meanwhile, the Ministry of External Affairs has not commented on the incident yet.
In January 2021, there was another such incident near the embassy, when a low-intensity blast occurred there. A Delhi police team had then found a letter addressed to the Israel Embassy ambassador at the spot. The probe was later handed over to the NIA, which is yet to make a breakthrough.
