New Delhi: The Delhi Metro, which has been closed for last five months in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, may resume its services from September 1, official sources said.
According to the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), it will be able to resume services within 2-3 days after getting the necessary go-ahead from the authorities concerned.
It is learnt that the DMRC is losing Rs 10 crore on a daily basis since its services were stopped to contain the spread of coronavirus on March 22 and it has lost over Rs 1500 crore till date.
On regular days, the average daily ridership of the DMRC is over 26 lakh.
Delhi Government has already sent a request letter to the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi to get the services started as people of the capital city have also been finding it difficult to commute.
