Delhi govt serves show-cause notices to hospitals for delay in reporting COVID-19 deaths

The Delhi government issued show-cause notices to several hospitals for alleged delay in reporting COVID-19 death cases. The show-cause notices have been issued after a total of 57 deaths due to coronavirus, with some even dating back to April 5, were released collectively on May 30.

New Delhi: Arvind Kejriwal led Delhi government has issued show-cause notices to top hospitals for alleged delay in reporting COVID-19 deaths in the national capital.

As per the Delhi government health bulletin, four top hospitals including AIIMS, Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital and Safdarjung were issued show-cause notices to explain the reasons for the delay in reporting COVID-19 death cases in violation of the directions issued by the health department as well as by the Delhi disaster management authority (DDMA) under the Disaster Management Act.

Apart from the four hospitals mentioned above, three other hospitals in the city, Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Hospital, Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital, Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital and Rajiv Gandhi Super Specialty hospital were also issued memorandums to explain the reasons for the delay in reporting death cases and for the alleged violation of the directions.

It is to be noted that the show-cause notices have been issued after a total of 57 deaths due to coronavirus, with some even dating back to April 5, were released collectively on May 30.

With 1,295 new cases and 13 deaths reported in the last 24 hours, Delhi's COVID-19 count on Sunday rose to 19,844 including 473 deaths.
