Delhi releases 47 prisoners, excluding Pak nationals, terrorists

Delhi Home Minister Satyendar Jain has informed that the Sentence Review Board (SRB) of Delhi government has decided to release 47 prisoners. However, he said no Pakistani national, terrorist or gangster would be released by the SRB.

New Delhi: The Sentence Review Board of Delhi government has decided to release 47 prisoners, Home Minister Satyendar Jain said.

Interacting with the ETV Bharat here, Jain, who also heads the board, said that no Pakistani national, terrorist or gangster has been released by the SRB.A meeting of the board was held last week on the matter."

Around 47 prisoners have been released by the Sentence Review Board," he said, without giving any details. In its meeting in May, the board had recommended premature release of Jessica Lal Murder case convict Manu Sharma.

Following which Lt Governor Anil Baijal had approved the SRB's recommendation.
