New Delhi: World's largest, 10,000-bed Sardar Patel's COVID Care Centre and Hospital (SPCCCH) at Radha Soami Satsang Beas in Chhatarpur area was made operational in the national capital. The facility was inaugurated by Lieutenant Governor of Delhi Anil Baijal.
Radha Soami Satsang Beas is located at Bhati Mines Chhatarpur in South Delhi. There is a large courtyard of 1700 × 700 square feet inside the Satsang complex. Radha Soami Satsang has been established here for a long time. But now it is known as the world's largest COVID Care Center. The entire courtyard has now been converted into a 10,000-bed Sardar Patel COVID Care Center, where patients with mild symptoms of the coronavirus are being treated.
Became operational on 5 July
On July 5, the COVID Care Center was made operational with two thousand beds. This huge hospital has been inaugurated by Deputy Governor Anil Baijal. At present, there are about 200 corona infected patients here. The coronavirus cases in the national capital have crossed one lakh mark. The rising figures have become a major concern for the government.
First official tour on 15 June
The government decided to build a temporary COVID Care Center and the most suitable place for this in South Delhi was the courtyard of Radha Soami Satsang Beas. The District Magistrate, BM Mishra took the initiative and prepared the Satsang Beas administration for this. From June 14, preparations kicked off to make Radha Soami Satsang Beas site as an official COVID Care Center. Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal was the first to visit and after getting the green signal from him, work started under the leadership of DM BA Mishra.
Chief Minister's letter to the Home Minister
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia went there for inspection on 18th June. On June 23rd, Kejriwal wrote a letter inviting the Home Minister to inspect the COVID Care Center. Kejriwal also demanded that ITBP services be provided for its operation.
In response, Amit Shah wrote that the Home Ministry has already entrusted the ITBP with the responsibility of operating the COVID Care Center. The Home Minister had also said that most of these facilities will start from June 26th.
On June 27th, both Shah and Kejriwal came together to inspect the COVID Care Center. By then the preparations here were almost complete. The DG of ITBP briefed the Home Minister about the medical facilities being provided here.

As such, this COVID Care Center has all the facilities to treat corona infected people with no symptoms and mild symptoms. But if a patient's condition becomes critical, then he will be sent to Deendayal Upadhyay Hospital, an adequate arrangement of the ambulance has also been made.
