Jaisalmer (Rajasthan): The Delhi Police Crime Branch detained a suspect from Pokhran village in Rajasthan's Jaisalmer district on espionage charges. The accused a native of Bikaner was allegedly detained by the police for spying for Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence and suspicious activities close to the Indo-Pak border. The Crime Branch team from Delhi nabbed the suspect identified as Habib Khan from Pokharan-Phalodi road of Jaisalmer district on Tuesday morning. The suspect was living in the Pokharan area for the last several years, sources say.
In the investigation, it was revealed that Khan had been working as a contractor in the Indian Army for several years and has currently been given the contract of supplying vegetables in Indira Rasoi, which was being operated in the area. The Delhi Crime Branch had been monitoring the suspect for some time, as there were suspicions that he used to spy for the ISI.
The local police were not informed about the incident as the suspect was detained following a secret operation by the Delhi Police Crime Branch. After detaining the suspect, an interrogation and area verification was done. The Crime Branch team took the suspect to Delhi on Wednesday morning.
