Delhi braces for shortage of Remdesivir amid rising caseload

Delhi is now facing a shortage of Remdesivir injections which is essential in Covid-19 treatments. People are waiting in front of medical stores for days just to procure a vial of Remdesivir injections. Medical stores have claimed that the supply of Remdesivir and high demands are the main reason for this shortage.

New Delhi: The country's capital is breaking records on a daily basis in terms of fresh Covid-19 cases. The city is also battling acute shortages of Oxygen, hospital beds, and Remdesivir which is essential in Covid-19 treatments, making the situation worse.

People are running from pillar to post in hope of getting Remdesivir vials. Some have been waiting outiside medical stores for the past few days, in hope of eventually getting the anti-viral medication.

Outside the Arc Pharmaceuticals located at Yusuf Sara near AIIMS Delhi, people have been waiting for three days but the life-saving injection is still not available.

In fact, fifty people were issued tokens by Arc Pharmaceuticals and given the assurance of Remdesivir injection two days ago, but they too have not received the injections.

In such a scenario, patients' families are waiting outside the shop while on the other hand, patients' conditions are deteriorating. Remdesivir is a key life-saving drug that is being prescribed by doctors all over the country.

Medical stores are citing a lack of supply and heavy demands for Remdesivir are the main reasons behind the shortage. As of now, they are also as helpless as the waiting family members of Covid-19 patients.
