Delhi belongs to all citizens, govt can't discriminate: BJP

BJP has slammed the AAP government, saying people do not come to Delhi from Pakistan or Bangladesh to get medical treatment. The city belongs to all citizens of India and the government must not differentiate saying most of the coronavirus patients are from outside Delhi.

New Delhi: Slamming Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Health Minister Satyendar Jain over their comments concerning patients of coronavirus in the capital city, Delhi BJP president Adesh Kumar Gupta has said Delhi being the capital of the country belongs to every citizen and it's the duty of the government to provide medical care to all.

"People are not coming here from Pakistan or Bangladesh to get medical treatment. Delhi belongs to all citizens of India and the city government must not differentiate saying most of the coronavirus patients are from outside Delhi," he said.

The Delhi BJP chief said all citizens have rights over the capital city. Commenting on the rising number of coronavirus cases in Delhi, Jain had said that it was because of the patients coming from outside to get treated here. Kejriwal government has faced criticism over the issue several times in the recent past.

In June last, Delhi Lt Governor Anil Baijal had overruled Kejriwal’s decision that only bonafide residents of the national capital will get treated for coronavirus in hospitals run by the AAP government.
