New Delhi: Unidentified miscreants allegedly threatened BJP leader Sajid Ali and asked him to shave off his beard, in North East Delhi's Jafrabad area in the wee hours of Friday.
Speaking to ETV Bharat, Ali, who is the vice-president of the BJP Minority Morcha's North East Delhi unit, claimed that he was verbally abused and threatened by the miscreants right outside his home.
"When I stepped out at around 12:15 am, a few people, who were sitting in the street right outside my home, verbally abused me and threatened me," he said, adding that he was asked to either cut his beard or quit the party.
"I asked them why were they behaving like this. After all, I work for serving the people and not for my own self-interests. They told me to cut my beard, or else I would have to quit the BJP and join any other party," Ali claimed.
Ali further added that the miscreants hurled abuses at Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Meanwhile, Ali has informed the police about the incident and has also made senior party leaders aware of the situation, who assured him of full support in the matter.
