New Delhi: The Crime Branch has directed Tablighi Jamaat chief Maulana Saad to get his corona test done after which the face to face interrogation will be conducted.
In April this year, over 2,361 people were evacuated from the Nizamuddin Markaz, which is among the major COVID-19 hotspots in the country. Out of those, 1100 were tested positive whereas, many died due to coronavirus.
Following the incident, on March 31, the Delhi Crime Branch registered an FIR against the chief of Tablighi Jammat Maulana Saad six others for holding a religious congregation in Delhi allegedly in violation of the lockdown orders. Soon after the FIR registered, he had gone to Self-Quarantine.
Maulana Saad has completed his quarantine period on April 14, but he has not joined the investigation yet, instead, he has demanded a copy of the FIR registered against him.
Maulana Saad in his reply to the Crime Branch said, "Kindly supply me the copy of FIR no 63/2020 registered at Police Station Crime Branch, Rohini, New Delhi and also inform if any section has been added in the said FIR."
The Crime Branch asked him to get his corona test done. Further interrogation will be decided on the basis of his test report. If it comes positive, the Crime Branch will wait till he is treated.
At least 9,000 people participated in the religious congregation in Nizamuddin. Later, many of the attendees travelled to various parts of the country.
