New Delhi: In an attempt to help India in its fight against coronavirus, the students of Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) have designed a 'low-cost anti-bacterial mask' which will be launched in the market next week. The price of the mask will be kept at Rs 27 and people can order it online on the website www.medicfiders.com too.
Speaking to ETV Bharat, IIT Delhi student Harsh Lal said,"We observed that people do not have enough access to masks and they are using handkerchiefs, pieces of clothes and towel. So, we decided to develop a low-cost antibacterial mask".
Harsh went on to add, "Masks available in the market are expensive and most of the people cannot afford to buy them. Moreover, they are not of good quality".
"We understood the scarcity of masks in the country, especially in rural areas, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi told people to use homemade masks. This shows that there is less supply of good quality masks", the student said.
Asked about how they will help poor people in villages, he said, "In such cases, we will approach the Home Ministry and ask the govt officials to help us. We want these masks to reach the poor."
IIT Delhi student claimed that the 'anti-bacterial mask' designed by them is better than N-95 masks. They are putting efforts to make the masks available in the market and on online platforms too.
