Court adjourns matter on misappropriation of funds by Maneka Gandhi till Jan 28

The matter pertaining to alleged misappropriation of funds against BJP leader Maneka Gandhi has been adjourned till January 28 by a Delhi Court. This step has been taken for clarification on the closure report.

New Delhi: Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court on Thursday adjourned the matter pertaining to alleged misappropriation of funds against BJP leader and Member of Parliament Maneka Gandhi till January 28.

Special CBI Judge Ajay Kumar Kuhar adjourned the matter for clarification on the closure report.

An FIR was lodged by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) against Maneka Gandhi, former secretary of Maulana Azad Education Foundation (MAEF) F U Siddiqui, and former managing trustee of Gandhi Rural Welfare Trust (GRWT) Vijay Sharma in 2006.

The FIR had claimed that Gandhi, in conspiracy with Siddiqui, sanctioned a grant of Rs 50 lakh to GRWT from MAEF in an irregular manner to construct a nursing college building at Uttar Pradesh's Pilibhit and gave undue favour to Sharma.

Intro:New Delhi: Amid heightened tensions between U.S. and Iran post killing of Tehran's General Qassem Soleimani on Friday, India has wished that situation between both countries de-escalate soon.

The already volatile U.S.-Iran relation escalated for the first time in nearly three decades (post Iranian revolution) in 2018 after U.S. President walked out of the nuclear deal.

Since then tensions have only escalated between both nations as President Trump reimposed several international sanctions on Tehran. Putting more burden on its already fragile economy.

But things triggered post violent protesters entered the US embassy in Baghdad on December 31. Several videos emerged where pro-Shia groups in cover of protest broke into the embassy and Iraqi security deployed for safety of the U.S. officials failed to perform their duty. Resulting to which, the U.S. killed Iranian General Soleimani in a drone strike on Friday last week.
