New Delhi: In another twist to wrestler Sagar Dhankar's murder case, the Delhi police have revealed the role of a Ukrainian woman in the matter.
According to police, they are trying to trace the woman who seemed to be at the centre of the rivalry between Dhankar and the jailed Olympian Sushil Kumar. They said that she has been found to be an acquaintance of Dhankar's friends, Sonu Mahaal, nephew of fugitive gangster Kala Jathedi.
It is alleged that Ajay Kumar, arrested in the case along with Sushil, had developed a liking for the Ukrainian girl. The two groups had clashed first when Ajay took a selfie with her. This had outraged Mahaal who then, along with Sagar Dhankar, got into a verbal spat with Ajay. Later, Ajay is learnt to have instigated Sushil to act against Mahaal and Dhankar and requested help in seeking revenge for the insult caused to him for taking a selfie.
The 38-year-old wrestler, Sushil Kumar is a prime suspect in the case. A non-bailable warrant was issued against Kumar and others in the case relating to the alleged killing of Dhankar at Chhatrasal Stadium on May 4.
