The meeting was headed by Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal in which party's State in charges and PCC Chiefs were also present along with all the MPs of Rajya Sabha as well as Lok Sabha.

Senior party leaders Ahmed Patel, Jairam Ramesh, K Suresh, Digvijay Singh, Kumari Shailja, Rajeev Gowda, Mukul Wasnik and PL Punia also attended the meeting.

While speaking to ETV Bharat PL Punia said, "Party members discussed the difference between NPR exercise done in 2010 and NPR 2020. In the amended version of NPR, eight new questions that have been added somehow link it to NRC. We want those questions to be removed before the implementation of NPR nationally."

Congress MP K Suresh said, "Today, all the state in-charges and PCC chiefs were being briefed about the future consequences of NPR. They have also been asked to address the issue of NPR and NRC in their respective states."

On Tuesday, MoS Home, Nityanand Rai clarified in the Parliament that the government has taken no decision for Pan India implementation of NRC. Replying to his statement, K Suresh said that the Government has misled the house many times and hence these statements cannot be trusted.

Congress leader Rajeev Gowda even targeted the government over the rising unemployment rate in the country.

He said, "It's not a jobless growth in the country but a job loss growth. The economy is declining while the Modi government is running away from numbers, unwilling to accept reality."
