CBSE writes to schools regarding subject change, absent students

Ahead of the Class 12 Board Exam result, the Central Board of Secondary Education has issued guidelines to all schools regarding subject change and absent students issues. The results of the Board Exams will be declared by July 31.

New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Friday issued a fresh circular to all schools regarding students who remained absent during internal assessment and students who opted for different subjects in Class 12 than in Class 11. As per the result tabulation policy for CBSE Class 12 Board Exam 2021, the schools were informed to use the average of the best three subjects for awarding marks in Class 11 in respect of the subject that has been changed in Class 12.

With regard to subject change, the circular said that schools will have to ensure beforehand that prior approval was taken from the CBSE and now no changes will be allowed. Whereas, regarding absent students during the internal assessment, the CBSE asked schools to mark them absent and not to give zero marks. It also said that the results of such students will not be released.

It may be mentioned here that keeping the Covid-19 second wave in mind, the CBSE had cancelled the Class 12 Board Exams 2021 and announced the marks tabulation policy. The results of the Board Exams will be declared by July 31.
