BSF adds 20 more beds with oxygen support in its Delhi Covid facility

BSF has upgraded its facility in New Delhi by setting up 20 oxygen beds and is in the process of setting up two mini oxygen plants for ensuring a seamless supply of oxygen to the patients.

New Delhi: To tackle the rise in coronavirus cases among its personnel, Border Security Force (BSF) has upgraded its facility in the national capital by setting up 20 oxygen beds and is in the process of setting up two mini oxygen plants for ensuring a seamless supply of oxygen to the patients, a BSF spokesperson said on Wednesday.

BSF spokesperson said that 10 oxygen beds are at Covid Care Centre (CCC) Chhawla and 10 beds are at Covid Care Centre Tigri. All these 20 beds are connected with oxygen and multipara monitors. One bed each at CCC Tigri as well as Chhawla is attached with a bi-pap machine and two each are having ventilators.

He added that CCC Chhawla is also having 30 standalone oxygen beds. On the same line, CCC Tigri is having 10 standalone oxygen beds. As such, in total BSF have 60 oxygenated beds to manage the seriously ill patients of the force and their dependent family members, including retirees.

The above facility is in addition to the already available facilities i.e. a 182 bedded CCC at its Training Centre at 25 Bn, Chhawla Camp. Several Covid Care Centres (level-l facility) are functioning under various BSF command formations, said BSF.

Besides this, eight 50 bedded Composite Hospitals and two 100 bedded hospitals have been designated as level-II Dedicated Covid Health Centres.

BSF has set up Multiple Quarantine Centres (more than 900) and Covid testing facilities for BSF troops at the BOPs and those deployed for law and order and other related duties with the field units.

To further contain and prevent the spread of Covid infections, 49 vaccination centres have also been established at various locations of BSF.

In addition, a 24*7 helpline has been made functional in Delhi for teleconsultation with doctors and to provide necessary medical guidance to fight the menace. This round the clock facility is providing telemedicine consultation, supply of generic medicines and ambulance services to the Serving and Retired BSF personnel and their family members.

BSF has 1,551 active cases with 2,19,225 personnel vaccinated with the first dose and 1,78,060 personnel vaccinated with the second dose till date.
