BJP leader accused of abetting suicide yet to be arrested

Salman, who came in contact with a B.Ed student of IP university in the capital city through a social media platform few months ago, was allegedly forcing her to marry him.

New Delhi: Haji Salman, a man accused of abetting the suicide of a university girl and said to be associated with the BJP, yet to be arrested.

Salman, who came in contact with a B.Ed student of IP university in the capital city through a social media platform a few months ago, was allegedly forcing her to marry him.

It was learnt that in August last he came to the girl's house and created ruckus there. He threatened the girl's family members, saying he would kill them.

The girl could not bear it and tried to commit suicide by hanging herself with a ceiling fan in her room on October 12. She was immediately rushed to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries on October 19.

An FIR was registered in Bhajapura Police Station against the accused, who lives in the adjacent area of Loni in Uttar Pradesh but he was not arrested yet.
