BJP criticises Kejriwal govt on mishandling of of COVID-19 dead bodies

After several cases of mishandling of coronavirus infected dead bodies reported by several media houses, Delhi BJP spokesperson said that the Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal led government must handover the responsibility to any Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) for the cremation of the dead bodies.

New Delhi: The Delhi unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has slammed Arvind Kejriwal government for mishandling the coronavirus infected dead bodies, and said the government must handover the dead bodies with proper precaution and care. If it is not possible then, Kejriwal should handover the responsibility to any Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) for the cremation of the dead body.

Speaking to ETV Bharat here, Delhi BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor said that it is the prime duty of government to hand over the dead bodies to the concerned family members.

"It has come to the notice that several dead bodies went missing from the hospitals. It is the right of the family to get the dead bodies of their loved ones. The condition clearly indicates the failure of the government", added BJP Spokesperson.

Earlier in the day, the Supreme Court also takes note of mishandling of the corona infected dead bodies.

Also, former Law Minister, Ashwini Kumar, has written a letter to the Chief Justice of India, SA Bobde, requesting the Supreme Court to take suo moto notice of the matters pertaining to dignified cremation/burial of the dead bodies to ensure citizens' Right to die with dignity.
