Award-wapsi gang is back to defame Modi govt: BJP

Referring to 49 eminent citizens who wrote to the PM saying that 'Jai Shri Ram' has become a provocative war cry, BJP national spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain said that the award-wapsi gang was back to destabilise the Modi government, but their attempts would bear no result as the public knows the reality on the ground.

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party on Wednesday claimed that the 'award-wapsi' gang was back to defame the Modi government in the name of mob-lynching and communal hatred.

Referring to 49 eminent citizens who wrote to the Prime Minister saying that 'Jai Shri Ram' has become a provocative war cry, BJP national spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain said, "The award-wapsi gang is back to destabilise the Modi government. However, their attempts will bear no result as the public knows the reality on the ground."

He added, "These people can't find any real issues like corruption and inflation. So, they are creating fake issues to defame the government. They did it last time also when the BJP came to power with a comfortable majority. This year also they are feeling very insecure after our massive victory. But the people have seen development and have faith in our government. The award-wapsi gang will never succeed in their ploys to destablise this government."

Commenting over alleged increase in violence against Muslims in the country, Hussain said that the minority community was the safest in India. He said, "Muslims are safest in India. Even in the Muslims-majority nations like Iran, Iraq, Syria, Pakistan, they are not as safe as they are India. All the hue and cry over minority's safety is politically-motivated."

When asked about the Opposition's queries regarding US president Trump's statement over mediating between Pakistan and India over Kashmir issue, the BJP leader said that both the Indian and the US government have issued a clarification that there were no such discussions.

"India will always abide by the Shimla Accord and the Lahore Accord when it comes to discussing the Kashmir issue. The government will never involve a third party to mediate," added Hussain.

"The Opposition is creating an issue out of nothing. They have to decide who they want to trust, our PM or US President. When the governments of both the nations have issued a clarification, what is the purpose of creating such fuss," he said.
