New Delhi: The ruling Aam Aadmi Party has announced their candidates for six Lok Sabha seats of Delhi and has fielded political activist Atishi Marlena as the candidate from East Delhi parliamentary constituency. Atishi has served as the advisor to the deputy chief minister of Delhi, Manish Sisodia, primarily on education.
In an interview with ETV Bharat, Atishi said, "Our campaign is ground-based, we believe in the person-to-person campaign. Unlike BJP, Congress, we don't spend money on the election campaign."
Being asked on taking initiative on the crowdfunding campaign, Aarti said, "Till now we have raised 50 per cent of the official election expenditure that is Rs 35 lakhs through crowdfunding and hope that full Rs 70 lakh will be recovered from crowdfunding."
She further added: "The Central government and LG have always hindered the progressive work of Delhi government, but after making efforts we have somehow got the developmental works like Mohalla clinic, CCTV installation and construction of roads in unauthorised colony approved."
As per her political profile, Atishi has played a key role in the development of Delhi schools. The contributions made by Atishi in the education field has been mentioned in the election posters of AAP in East Delhi.
She has been actively working for Delhi government as East Delhi in-charge but after being stamped as the candidature her election campaign is in full swing.
