New Delhi: A health worker at the All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS), Delhi died from coronavirus on Sunday.

The deceased, Vijay, was working as a senior health worker and was posted at Cardio- Radio Department in the AIIMS. The hospital sources said that he was very alert while discharging his duty in the hospital.

Speaking to ETV Bharat, Dr Amarinder Singh, Assistant Professor of AIIMS Cardio- Radio Department said, "He used to follow all norms of hygiene but despite that, the deadly virus entered his body and he lost the battle of life. He did not care about his life while serving people in the hospital. He was loved equally by all including nursing staff and doctors."

"Everything was going normal in his life but suddenly he tested coronavirus positive and he died after 2 days. This is a very sad incident," he said.

"According to an article published in the world's leading science magazine Lancet, Corona has also become an airborne disease and through this, it is continuously spreading infection. However, experts are not unanimous about this as no concrete evidence has been presented in this regard," Dr Singh said.

"Still it is important to be cautious. In many states, children and people between the ages of 18 and 25 are also becoming the victims of Covid-19. Therefore, there is an appeal to the government vaccinate people between 18 and 25 years of age," he added.

Reportedly, twenty doctors of AIl India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Delhi, including 18 residents doctors and two faculty members, have tested positive for COVID-19 over the past few days.
