Congress' prominent leader and deputy Chief Minister of MP, Jyotiraditya Scindia quit the party, on Tuesday, which has pushed the 15-months-old Kamal Nath government in the state, to the brink of collapse.
However, Rahul Gandhi refused to comment anything over the current situation of MP, he continue to attack the Center over the crude oil prices.
In a written statement, Congress Chief spokesperson, Randeep Singh Surjewala said, "Modi-Shah Government must pass on the relief of record low crude oil prices to the people of India against the stagflation and rising unemployment by lowering petrol, diesel and LPG rates in consonance with the huge fall in international crude oil prices."
He also accused the government for the consistent high petrol prices despite crude oil prices going down.
"The Modi-Shah government has looted the people by increasing excise duties and Taxes on petroleum products and did not bring this under GST despite the consistent demand of Congress party. The ill directed anti-people policies of BJP government are responsible for the high prices of petrol diesel and LPG despite crude oil consistently remaining down to less than 50% for last 6 years," he added.
Congress demanded, "The benefit of reduced International crude oil prices should be forwarded to people and the rates of petrol diesel LPG gas be reduced by at least 35 to 40 percent. Petrol and diesel should be brought under GST. The hike in excise duty/customs duty effected by Modi government since May 2014 on petroleum products should be withdrawn immediately until it is brought under the GST regime."
