New Delhi: A Delhi court on Friday extended till August 23 the interim protection from arrest granted to former Union Minister P Chidambaram and his son Karti in the Aircel-Maxis cases filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation(CBI)and the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
Special Judge O P Saini who extended the relief which was to end on August 9, said that the court was not available for arguments.
During the hearing on an earlier date, the Chidambaram's had told the court that there was no ground to deny them for anticipatory bail. Their argument was opposed by both central probe agencies.
The cases relate to the alleged irregularities in grant of Foreign Investment Promotion Board approval in the Aircel-Maxis deal.
