New Delhi: The special cell of Delhi Police has seized fine quality heroin worth Rs 15 lakhs and arrested an African from Dwarka. The man is allegedly part of an international drug racket being operated from Afghanistan.
DCP Anto Alphons said that the man was one of the key receivers from Afghan carriers, who would fly into Delhi with drug-filled capsules in their stomach. “He had established a big network in Delhi through which he was also sending drugs to UK, France, Canada and South Africa,” Alphons said.
On Saturday, a team comprising ACP Vijendra Singh and inspectors Jeetendra and Randhir Singh received information that a man would deliver a big consignment of drugs to his contacts near sector 19, Dwarka. A trap was laid and the accused was arrested. The cops recovered 130 grams of Heroin from his bag.
He has confessed to having supplied over 100 kgs of heroin to his contacts. He told police that he had come to Mumbai from Africa in 2010 on a tourist visa. His visa had expired last year but he continued to stay and shifted base to Delhi. Here, he met a fellow Nigerian who lured him into the drugs business for easy money, he has claimed.
